Ray started pursuing an acting career as a teenager. Being born in New York City gave him the opportunity to study with the greatest teachers in American theater history: Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, Lee Strasberg and, his mentor, Alice Spivak. The lessons he learned from these legends have seen him through decades of film & TV work, as well as, over 100 stage productions.
Ray was 20 years old. He will never forget the words spoken to him by a casting director. "You don't look like DeNiro, Pacino or Travolta. You'll never work with that New York accent." These two simple sentences set him on a lifelong path of studying languages and dialects. Now, decades later, he is fluent in French and German and is proficient in 12 accents... which have, quite literally, given him a career.
Ray is perhaps best recognized for his portrayal of the kind and benevolent Dr. Stan Lipschitz for 3 seasons on the USA Network series, Suits. You may know him, as well, from Amazon's alternate reality series, The Man in the High Castle. In it, he plays Reinhard Heydrich, a real-life Nazi officer whom Hitler called, "the man with the iron heart". Or perhaps you know him better as the twisted, psychopathic Doctor on Netflix' Imposters.
