Ray started pursuing an acting career as a teenager. Being born in New York City gave him the rare opportunity to study with some of the greatest teachers in American theater history: Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, Lee Strasberg and, his mentor, Alice Spivak. The lessons he learned from these legends have seen him through decades of film and TV work, as well as, over 100 stage productions in NYC and LA.
Ray was 20 years old. He will never forget the words spoken to him by a casting director. "You don't look like DeNiro, Pacino or Travolta. You'll never work with that accent." These two simple sentences set him on a lifelong path of studying languages and dialects. Now, decades later, he is fluent in French and German and has become proficient in 14 accents... which have, quite simply, given him a career.
Currently, Ray can be seen playing Dr. Stanley Lipschitz on the USA Network series, Suits. He also returns as the mysterious, psychopathic Doctor for the second season of the Bravo series, Imposters. You may recognize him, as well, from Amazon's alternate reality series, The Man in the High Castle. In it, he plays Reinhard Heydrich, a real-life Nazi officer whom Hitler called, "the man with the iron heart".
